We follow the narrator’s journey through a 30-day rehab program and the aftermath while trying to build a new life by staying sober. Drawing from Georgia’s real life experiences, the reader is given a front row seat to the internal and external process of addiction, recovery, and the space where the two intersect and life is lived.
I have been close friends with the author, Georgia, since grade 1. I have had firsthand experience with the subject matter – through Georgia, my sister, family, and other friends. I found this book, as dark and upsetting as the matter is, provided a new perspective that forces the reader to confront their own thoughts on addiction and recovery, and especially the time “after” recovery.
I make sure to build genuine relationships with colleagues and clients because the more we understand each other, the better results we achieve. The best solutions happen when we collaborate.
